1. Getting Go: The Go Doc Project (2013)

Matthew Camp and Tanner Cohen star in this award-winning pseudo-documentary about an ordinary gay college student who becomes infatuated with a beautiful go-go dancer, ultimately asking him to be in a doc he’s kinda-sorta making. SPEAKProductions Watch Getting Go on Prime Video.

2. The Neon Demon (2016)

In Nicolas Winding Refn’s followup to the phenomenal Drive and the stylish-but-empty Only God Forgives, Elle Fanning stars as a fresh-faced small-town teen who braves Los Angeles in her search of supermodel stardom. The Neon Demon is pulpy and stylized within an inch of its life. It’s gobsmacking on the surface, with very little if anything going on underneath that. Perhaps that’s the point? The Neon Demon costars Christina Hendricks, Keanu Reeves, Jena Malone, Bella Heathcote and the underrated, super-charismatic Abbey Lee Kershaw. Watch The Neon Demon in 4K UHD on Prime Video.

3. The Voyeurs (2021)

Sydney Sweeney, Ben Hardy and Justice Smith star in an extremely dumb but shamelessly entertaining homage to 1990s erotic thrillers and the classic Rear Window. Sweeney and Smith play innocent-seeming twenty-something lovebirds who relocate to a French Canadian loft and become entangled in their attractive neighbors’ sexy, perhaps nefarious exhibitionistic shenanigans. There’s a ton of nudity, a few well-staged set pieces full of sex and suspense, and laugh-out-loud stupid plot twists and climaxes. Prime Video The best part of the film is Hardy, who spends much of the running time undressed, and delivers a performance that’s more intense and smart than the movie deserves.

4. Blue Valentine (2010)

Written and directed by Derek Cianfrance, this often uncomfortably intimate drama uses a nonlinear narrative to show us a couple’s sweet courtship, followed by a ripper of a breakup. Generous turns by Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling help Blue Valentine stand out from other films of its ilk. The picture was originally slapped with an NC-17 for a relatively non-graphic sex scene depicting female pleasure (notoriously frowned upon by the MPAA). Upon appeal, the rating was bumped to R with no cuts. TWC

5. Girl/Girl Scene: The Movie (2019)

Based on web series of the same name, Girl/Girl Scene stars Tucky Williams. It’s an exploration of the sex and romantic lives of several LGBT women. Many have compared Girl/Girl Scene to Showtime’s The L Word. Tucky Williams Motion Pictures Watch Girl/Girl Scene: The Movie on Prime Video.

6. Mulligans (2008)

It’s basically a gay version of The Graduate in this dramedy about a hunky older man who falls for his son’s college buddy. Mulligans is sentimental, a little cheesy and undeniably kinda hot. Border2Border Entertainment Watch Mulligans on Prime Video.

7. Afternoon Delight (2013)

Kathryn Hahn, Jane Lynch and Juno Temple star in a sexy comedy about a Los Angeles mom who takes in a young stripper as a live-in nanny. The film is from Joey Soloway, creator of Transparent. The Film Arcade

8. The Handmaiden (2016)

This erotic psychological thriller is such a twisty ride that it almost feels like a spoiler to tell you it’s a romance. Park Chan-wook‘s elegant suspenser tells of a blossoming love between a wealthy Japanese woman (Kim Min-hee) and a Korean pickpocket (Kim Tae-ri) … and of the men who try to control and oppress them. For any viewer willing to embrace the subtitles, some shocking sex and gore, and a hefty runtime, The Handmaiden is a giddy blast. It won a BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in the English Language. CJ Entertainment Watch The Handmaiden on Prime Video.

9. The Babysitters (2007)

Alexandra Daddario, Katherine Waterston, John Leguizamo and Cynthia Nixon star in a drama about a teen babysitter who becomes a call girl after fooling around with a client. Peace Arch Free with ads on Prime via IMDb TV

10. Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction (2006)

Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas starred in Paul Verhoeven’s iconic 1992 chiller about a dupe who falls for a murderous bombshell. The original was a massive box-office hit that made Stone a household name and grossed over $352 million (nearly $700 million today). The long-delayed sequel ups the sleaze, downs the already-low IQ, but it’s a nudity-filled thimble-brained, violent good time if you’re in the right mood. MGM/Sony Still looking for love?
