With 15-16 grams of protein and only ranging 90 to 120 calories, this yogurt is excellent for weight management. “I love Siggi’s yogurt because it is very high in protein, but low in calories,” says Tiana Glover, private practice Registered Dietitian at Taste It with Tia.  “The yogurts range from 15-16 grams of protein and are only 90-120 calories.”

Dannon Light & Fit Nonfat Greek Yogurt, $1.59 each

Light & Fit is a popular choice since you’re getting the best of both worlds: it’s naturally very sweet while also being low in sugar “This yogurt is great because it contains just 80 calories, has only 1-2 grams of added sugar and provides 12 grams of protein per container,” Glover explains. “Plus they have a wide variety of delicious flavors like strawberry cheesecake (my personal favorite).”

Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt, $1.49 each

Another yogurt that’s low-cal and high in protein, Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt is healthier than most due to the fact that it has no added sugar and zero fat. “This yogurt is popular because it contains zero added sugar, zero artificial sweeteners and zero percent fat,” says Glover. “For just 100 calories, it provides 15 grams of protein and is sweetened with stevia leaf extract.”

Fage 0% Plain Greek Yogurt, $25.99 for a 12-pack

While plain Greek yogurt is a bit bland on its own, it’s great for adding to smoothies. Adding frozen fruit will give it a sweet taste. “If you prefer buying plain yogurt and adding in your own toppings like granola and fruit, this is a great option. One container has 90 calories, 0 grams of added sugar and 18 grams of protein,” Glover states.

Chobani Complete Greek Yogurt Drink, $1.49 each

“If you prefer to drink your yogurt, this is a wonderful option. It is lactose free, contains 0 grams of added sugar, 3 grams of fiber and has a whopping 25 grams of protein per bottle,” says Glover.

Icelandic Provisions Skyr Yogurt, $2.25 each

One container has 120 calories, 3 grams of added sugar and 15 grams of protein. This is another option if you like thicker yogurt like Siggis, Glover explains.

Chobani Zero Sugar Greek Yogurt, 2.49 each

Want a grab-and-go yogurt? This yogurt is both low in sugar and calories. “If you love the brand Chobani and want a lower sugar option, this is perfect. One container contains only 60 calories, 0 grams of sugar and 11g of protein,” says Glover.

Silk Dairy-Free Yogurt, $2.29 each

In just 3/4 cup, you get 110 calories, 4 grams of added sugar and 7 grams of protein. “If you are allergic or intolerant to dairy products, this is the yogurt I recommend! Unlike other plant-based yogurts, it contains more protein and is lower in sugar,” Glover states.

Stonyfield Grass-Fed Greek Yogurt, $2.19 each 

“This Greek yogurt is a great high protein option, cows are grass fed which means more omega-3s in the yogurt,” says Marissa Meshulam, MS, RD, CDN.

Maple Hill Creamery Grass-fed Greek Yogurt, $6.98 for 16 ounces  

Along with more omega-3s, grass-fed dairy contains more vitamin E and betacarotene. Recommended by Meshulam, this yogurt is high in protein and low in carbs. It’s also non-GMO with no artificial ingredients.

YQ by Yoplait Cultured Ultra-Filtered Milk Yogurt Plain, price varies

One serving contains just 1 gram of naturally occurring sugar, 17 grams of protein, and is 99% lactose-free. This yogurt is made with ultra-filtered milk to significantly cut back on sugar, Lindsey DeSoto, RDN, LD, owner of The Dietitian Momma, explains. It pairs great with fruit and nuts for a balanced snack or breakfast. 

Two Good Strawberry Greek Yogurt, $1.79 each

This yogurt only contains two grams of sugar and is free of added sugar.  “For those who like a little extra flavor without a ton of sugar, I suggest Two Good Strawberry Greek Yogurt,” says DeSoto. “Two Good uses a slow straining process to reduce the sugar content while preserving taste.”

Oikos PRO, $1.59 each

Great for a snack or meal, Oikos Pro contains only 140 calories with 20 grams of protein. “It has a small amount of fat, but a full 20 grams of high-quality protein—about what you’d need for a meal—and only 140 calories,” Keith-Thomas Ayoob, EdD, RD, FAND. “That’s the amount of protein in about 3 ounces of meat, chicken or fish, or 3 extra-large eggs.” It also has no added sugar. Sweetened with a form of stevia from the leaf, called Reb M, this particular stevia component doesn’t have the aftertaste of some of the other stevia leaf compounds, so it provides just enough of the sweetness, Ayoob adds. 

Dannon Activia Nonfat Probiotic Yogurt, $2 each 

“This is an excellent choice because it has 4 grams of protein and 2 grams of dietary fiber with no fat and only 60 calories per serving,” says Stephanie Gomez, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with SportingSmiles.com.
