According to an excerpt from the new book obtained by Yahoo!, the reality star was presenting JT with the award for Male Artist of the Year back in 2007 along with her then-costars on The Hills, Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port, when the uncomfortable moment went down. In her pages, the 37-year-old reveals Conrad and Port “were beyond excited when Justin Timberlake won because they were superfans,” although Patridge admits she wasn’t a big fan herself. “His wasn’t my kind of music, so I couldn’t have cared less, but I was excited for them,” she explained. However, when the “Sexy Back” singer got on stage, she noted that he “wouldn’t even come up to us and accept the award in front of a packed house.” Timbaland—who performed with Timberlake that night—came onstage as well, grabbed the award, and gave it to JT as Patridge and her cast mates “backed off to the side.” The TV personality claimed the whole ordeal “devastated” Conrad and Port, while she was more “annoyed” at JT’s “diva” behavior. “As if that wasn’t bad enough,” Patridge continued, “Justin took center stage and said to the crowd: ‘MTV play more damn videos. We don’t want to see the Simpsons on reality television,’” which Patridge saw as a “personal attack” on reality stars. “Lauren’s jaw dropped. We were humiliated,” she added. Timberlake has not yet responded to Patridge’s claims, but you can watch the moment in question below:
