Delaware

Iowa

Lake Macbride Lake Macbride offers 812 acres of artificial lake prime for catching fish including walleye, channel catfish and muskie. Lake Macbride may be the only lake in Iowa in which the prized Kentucky spotted bass can be caught. Fishing amenities include boat ramps, a universally accessible fishing pier, a dozen fishing jetties, boat rentals, great shoreline access throughout, and a fish cleaning station. The reservoir has a naturally reproducing walleye population that interests the local fishing clubs, which hold open tournaments throughout the year. The reservoir has the ability to produce trophy size fish such as crappie and northern pike. Other species include yellow perch, carp, bluegill, pumpkinseed, rock bass, brown bullhead, channel catfish, chain pickerel, hybrid striped bass, and alewife. Deep Creek Lake Deep Creek is stocked throughout the year, and the most common fish species caught are smallmouth and largemouth bass, walleye, crappie and chain pickerel. Other species in the lake include northern pike, bullhead catfish, bluegill, rock bass, yellow perch, rainbow and brown trout, and pumpkinseed sunfish! Deep Creek Lake is very popular year-round for fishing, with fishermen filling the coves on the water and the ice!

Massachusetts

Quabbin Reservoir The Quabbin Reservoir is a fisherman’s dream as it is stocked with an abundance of fish. Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, black crappie, rainbow trout, brown trout, lake trout, bluegill, pumpkinseed sunfish, white perch, yellow perch, Atlantic salmon and chain pickerel swim in these waters. Minnesota

Whitefish Chain of Lakes The Whitefish Chain of lakes is located in the beautiful Brainerd Lakes Area in Northern Minnesota.  Fourteen lakes make up the Whitefish Chain. This lake specializes in Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass and Bluegill. Walleye, Crappie, Whitefish and Smallmouth Bass were also caught.  Deep lake with a maximum depth of 140 ft.  In the summer, Walleye are most likely to be found on long mid-lake bars, sunken islands and deep weed edges. Lake Winnibigoshish Lake Winnibigoshish or Big Winnie as it’s more commonly known is the fifth largest lake in Minnesota. Lake Winnie is also host to a walleye fish hatchery. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources encourages people to visit the hatchery and witness their work first-hand.

Mississippi

Missouri

Barren Fork Creek Harvest is limited to maintain the maximum density of adult trout, create excellent catch-and-release fishing, and provide the occasional chance to harvest a trophy. Because of that, only flies and artificial lures may be used, and soft plastic baits and natural and scented baits are prohibited when fishing for any species. Gigging, bow fishing and using an atlatl are prohibited. Lake of the Ozarks Lake of the Ozarks State Park in Osage Beach offers boat ramps, dock fishing and crappie beds. Nevada

Lake Mead With a maximum depth of 465 feet, Lake Mead’s primary underwater game fish include striped bass, both largemouth and smallmouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill, green sunfish, and black crappie. Crystal Lake is stocked with fish species like rainbow trout, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and bluegill just to name a few.

New Jersey

Brigantine Beach This is a fantastic fishing destination on the east coast with access to plenty of unique species of fish, coupled with a relaxing environment. Hailed by some as the “best fishing spot in south New Jersey”, Brigantine Beach offers a healthy striped bass population, as well as kingfish, bluefish, weakfish, or summer flounder at different times in the year. Raritan River This is one of the most diverse yet underutilized fisheries in New Jersey. Freshwaters originating from seven northern counties flow downstream past the freshwater fishing license line at the Landing Lane Bridge in New Brunswick, then ultimately into the Atlantic Ocean via the Raritan Bay. This River has an amazing population of trout of various sizes.

New Mexico

North Dakota

Red River of the North The Red River boasts more than 70 species of fish. Although the Red is a “muddy” river with low water clarity during much of the year, water quality is high. With such a variety of fish that call the Red River home, you don’t need expensive equipment. An inexpensive rod and quality reel are good enough to land most of the fish from these rivers. Lake Sakakawea Lake Sakakawea is known for its premier fishing waters. Anglers can find a full-service marina, a convenience store, and a fish cleaning station around this 368,000-acre lake. The park is also home to the Western Terminus of the North Country National Scenic Trail, a trail stretching 4,600 miles over eight states from Lake Sakakawea State Park in North Dakota to Vermont.

Ohio

Clear Fork Reservoir Situated in the upper Clear Fork Valley, the lake together with 1,000 acres of surrounding land is available for picnicking, boating, fishing, camping, hiking, hunting and other forms of recreation. Fishing from boats is permitted on the lake, except in the area within 500 feet of the dam. Shore fishing is permitted on the south and west shores only.

Oklahoma

Pennsylvania

Lake Arthur Lake Arthur is a 3,200-acre lake in the west-central part of the state. This warm-water fishery offers a nice variety of fish species. Crappie, bass, catfish, striped bass, muskellunge, walleye, northern pike and sunfish are all popular here. A maximum of 20 hp motors for boats makes this lake a tranquil place for fishing from shore or by boat. Pymatuning Reservoir The 17,088-acre Pymatuning Reservoir is a warm water fishery. It’s known for having walleye, carp and Muskellunge to name a few. When fishing by boat, fishing licenses issued by either Ohio or Pennsylvania are honored anywhere on the lake. When fishing from the shore, only Ohio licensed fishermen can fish from the Ohio shore and Pennsylvania licensed fishermen from the Pennsylvania shore.

Lake St. Catherine State Park This park offers an array of recreation opportunities for campers and day-use visitors alike. Fun activities include a  61-site campground, a nature center, two sandy beaches, a large grassy field including a children’s playground and a snack-bar concession with rentals of rowboats, canoes, kayaks and pedal boats. Panfish, largemouth and smallmouth bass, rainbow and brown trout, yellow perch and northern pike can all be found in the lake’s cool waters. Shelburne Bay Lake Champlain has over 90 species of fish, many of which are highly-prized recreational sport fish. This access area offers excellent fishing for fish species such as yellow perch, white perch, bluegill sunfish, smallmouth and largemouth bass, rock bass, brown bullhead, and northern pike. If the fishing is slow, Shelburne Bay offers a number of recreational activities nearby.

Virginia

The 14-mile Cumberland Multi-use Trail, which is available for hiking, biking and horseback riding.

Washington

Winter resident salmon fishing is a unique opportunity to catch salmon in the ‘off-season and typically runs from March through mid-April. Franklin Roosevelt Lake White Sturgeon, Rainbow Trout, Kokanee, Walleye and Smallmouth Bass are the star attractions in these Washington waters. Cooperative net-pen rearing projects at numerous locations provide the Rainbow Trout fishery. The cooperative net-pen project plants approximately 750,000 triploid catchable Rainbow Trout annually into Lake Roosevelt.

West Virginia

Little Kanawha River Considered by some as one of the best fishing destinations in the state, one can find both trout and muskies along stretches of the river. The Little Kanawha River winds through six counties in West Virginia. Summersville Lake Both the serene landscape and great fishing make Summersville Lake a popular place for vacations, weekend get-away’s and fishing trips. Being the largest lake in West Virginia, anglers here pursue bass, trout, walleye, crappie, perch, catfish and sunfish, with bass, crappie and walleye getting most of the attention.
