Entertainment Tonight confirmed the breakup. The couple, who starred together in the Disney+ Christmas film Noelle, were notoriously private about their romance. It’s not clear when they officially began dating, but in January 2022, a source told People that they have been “quietly” in a relationship “for over a year.” “They met years ago. She’s hosted Saturday Night Live and they’ve done a movie together, but they got together well after the movie,” the source said, adding, “They are both very private people, and with the pandemic it was easy to keep it quiet. They’re both hysterical so they must keep each other laughing all of the time. She’s really, really happy.” The split comes two months after the actor shut down any possibility of the Twilight actress appearing on his HBO series Barry. “Oh no,” Hader, 44, told ET when asked if she would guest star on the comedy at some point. Around the same time, Hader explained that he keeps his romantic life private out of respect for his children. Hader shares Hayley, 7, Harper, 10, Hannah, 12, with his ex-wife Maggie Carey. The couple divorced in 2018. “They just want me to be their dad,” he told The Hollywood Reporter, adding, “They just want me to sit and watch Encanto over and over and over again. So that’s what I do.” Despite trying to keep his relationships out of the public eye, this is the second time Hader’s romantic life made headlines in recent weeks. Hader previously dated OC alum Rachel Bilson, who opened up about their tough split earlier this month during an episode of the Broad Ideas podcast. While she never mentioned him by name, she confirmed that they dated “two years ago” and called the split “really hard” as it happened in the thick of the pandemic. She said picking up the pieces was “probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” noting that it was “harder than childbirth.” Bilson explained, “I could not leave my house, so I had nothing else to do but sit in it and deal with it, and feel it.” But to Bilson, it was all for the best, as she said, “If you actually face it, you can come out of it and be like, ‘OK, I did that, and I’m ready for the next thing.’” The couple called things off in July 2020. Next, Bill Hader talks Barry Season 3 and the secret of the show’s success.
