On March 22, 2022, Netflix revealed that the sitcom will close out its historic run with its last episodes arriving on Friday, April 29. The news comes after Netflix surprise-dropped the first four episodes from Grace and Frankie’s final season all the way back in August 2021. That shocker came after it was announced in 2019 that Season 7—which has been majorly delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—would be the show’s last and likely wouldn’t arrive until 2022. After surviving so-so reviews from Season 1, the series gained critical acclaim as one of the downright funniest shows on TV—and one of the frankest, given the jaw-droppingly wacky hijinks that Grace (JaneFonda) and Frankie (LilyTomlin) have gotten into as BFFs in their golden years. (Speaking of longevity, by the time it ends, Grace and Frankie will have aired 94 episodes in all, more than any other scripted series in Netflix history.) What’s Grace and Frankie’s Season 7 release date?
The remainder of Season 7 will hit Netflix on Friday, April 29, 2022. In September 2020, Fonda told Al Roker on TODAY that Season 7 production was set to begin in “the third week of January [2021]” and that “extra precautions” would be taken on-set given that the show’s stars are older. “We’re gonna be able to do our final season,” she promised. However, in a November 2020 post on her personal blog, Fonda revealed that filming had been pushed back even further to June 2021. “A long time to wait but, given the age and vulnerability of the four leads, it’s best,” Fonda added. “I’ll be headed into 84 by the time we’re done. Yikes!”
Is there a Grace and Frankie Season 7 trailer?
There’s still not a trailer, but on April 4, the official Grace and Frankie Twitter account shared several first-look pics from the final episodes. Back when the season’s first four episodes arrived, Netflix shared a video message from Fonda and Tomlin. “We’ve missed you. But more important, you’ve missed us,” Tomlin tells fans in the clip. After some classic bickering between her and Fonda, Tomlin then adds, “The first four episodes of Season 7 are out now!” Fonda chimed in with, “We just wanted to give you something special until we finish the rest of the season.” Tomlin, always one to get the last laugh, then admitted she would’ve rather given their viewers Del Taco gift cards.

The episode (which, of course, fans can now watch in full on Netflix) opens with the FBI questioning Grace and Frankie about the decimated couch they left behind at Nick’s place…and ends with the feds banging on their beach house door. And waaaay back in January 2020, series creator Marta Kauffmanhinted about the final season, “We’re going to be dealing with Robert, Sol, Grace, and Frankie in a way in that we haven’t seen before,”

What happened in Grace and Frankie Season 6?
The friendship between Grace and Frankie weathered its ups and downs after Grace secretly married Nick (Peter Gallagher) at the end of Season 5. And speaking of ups and downs, Frankie came up with another kooky invention, devising a rising toilet to help Grace with her mobility issues. The two BFFs took their “Rise Up” commode on Shark Tank, which wound up being a disaster. Then in the Season 6 finale, all hell—and plumbing—broke loose. Nick got arrested by the FBI for securities fraud and tax evasion, then made a cryptic comment to Grace as he was being carted away in handcuffs that led her and Frankie to discover he’d hidden hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash inside the couch Grace loathed so much. (No wonder she found it so lumpy!) Grace then agreed to move back in with Frankie, but when the two headed back to the beach house, they discovered their ex-husbands sitting outside. It turns out Robert (MartinSheen) and Sol (Sam Waterston) need a new place to live after their Rise Up toilet flooded their house.
