Speaking exclusively to Hello, theDuchess of Cambridge’s new sister-in-law explained that she “fell in love” with Carole Middleton’s wedding dress when she tried it on and said that it also served as her “something borrowed.” She went on, “It fitted me perfectly and was exactly what I wanted. It always troubled me that wedding dresses are only worn once so it was amazing to give such a beautiful dress a second lease of life.” Carole wore the dress when she married Michael Middleton 41 years ago, in June 1980. In the end, the dress’s floaty off-the-shoulder style fit perfectly with Alizee and James’ fairytale wedding, at which Duchess Kate and Prince William—as well as their children George, Charlotte and Louis—were guests. The casual romance of Alizee’s dress has a very different vibe from the more structured lace gowns that James’s sisters, Kate and Pippa, wore on their own big days. Alizee also wore a veil pinned to the back of her half-up, half-down hairstyle. The cover of Hello depicts the couple beaming in golden September sunlight as they pose in a vintage white car. Another gorgeous snap is of the bride leaning against a bale of hay and smiling down at one of her dogs. Additional photographs capture the bride and groom kissing on a balcony overlooking the village, and James bending Alizee backward on the dance floor. Adorably, James and Alizee’s two dogs Ella and Mabel were flower girls. James said that their pets, who wore white ribbons around their necks, “were given the job of welcoming each guest as they arrived.” The couple was married at the town hall in the remote and beautiful village of Bormes-les-Mimosas before traveling to a beachside reception. Alizee’s family, who are French, recently purchased a property close to the village. Hello is making a donation to James’s charity Pets as Therapy in exchange for the exclusive photos.
