Though the official mark of the cold season begins on Dec. 21, 2022, the Footloose star has noticed some tell-tale signs of his own that the weather change is upon us. Bacon took to Instagram to upload a wholesome video on Dec. 15, pointing out his jovial discovery that some critters had made their way into his home to escape the outdoor chill. He appeared elated in the clip to see the tiny spotted creatures, saying, “When these guys come in from the cold and start to snuggle up, that’s a sign of winter,” as he showed the cluster of bugs atop a windowsill. He then turned the camera to himself, revealing his smiling face. “Ladybugs… gotta love ’em,” he added. “Anyone else get some unexpected visitors this time of year? 🐞” he asked in the caption. The comments erupted with reactions to the revelation, with many relating to the observation, and others sharing information about the details of the distinct species of insect. “It’s so cute and I’m so sorry because I don’t want to be THAT PERSON, but I learned the hard way… If they come inside in the winter they are probably Asian lady beetles. They bite. And they bite and cling to the roofs of pet mouths,” one invested follower disclosed of her own experience with the assumed type of winged crawlers. Several people agreed with the sentiment that the “ladybugs” are, instead, “Asian lady beetles,” with one penning: “Those are Asian Lady Beetles and they bite! They’re not the friendly ones you catch and tell to fly away home.” One social media user expressed that they can sometimes be pesky visitors, writing, “They are beetles not lady bugs. They can definitely be pests in the house.” “We have ladybugs year round at our house! One day we walked outside and saw thousands of them on the 2nd floor of our house… changed the color of our house!!! 🐞 🐞 🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞” another Instagram user said of a swarm they’ve encountered. Another agreed: “Every October at my house… they come in through windows and crevices. I vacuum then up until December.” The 64-year-old A Few Good Men actor is obviously a nature-lover, sharing several moments from his farm in the past on social media, including videos serenading his goats, feeding his pigs, and grooming his horse Apollo.
