Nearly two years after completing her prison sentence, the former Full House and When Calls The Heart star spoke about her volunteer efforts with Project Angel Food and how community helped her heal in her hardest moments, during the Lead with Love 3 broadcast on Los Angeles’ KTLA on Saturday. “I’ve been working with Project Angel Food for a year-and-a-half now, and it’s been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life,” she admitted. In the interview, Loughlin detailed her volunteer work—which includes running food deliveries to the households in need in Los Angeles one time per week–and credited this community-building side of her efforts with helping the actress overcome the aftermath of consequences she faced after being found guilty of conspiracy charges related to the fraudulent admission of her two daughters to the University of Southern California back in 2020. “They have welcomed me with such open arms at a time when I was feeling particularly down and broken,” she said teary-eyed. “That’s how I found a home here, and that’s what I feel like they did for me, and that’s why I’m so proud to be here and working with this organization, because they really do care. It’s really a community.” Loughlin described her volunteer efforts as being about “more than just feeding people.” “It’s about loving people and helping people,” she added. “And I think that is so important, and I am so proud to be a part of Project Angel Food.” Since premiering in 2020, Lead with Love has raised $2 million for Project Angel Food’s vital work of feeding critically ill men, women and children in Los Angeles County. Other celebrities that also stepped in to advocate for the organization during this year’s Lead with Love benefit broadcast include: Oprah Winfrey, singer/songwriter Taylor Dayne, Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard, Schitt’s Creek’s Eugene Levy, Karamo Brown from Queer Eye, Gloria Estefan, Pat Benatar, Neil Giraldo, Holland Taylor, and many more.
