Theoretically, the winner of an all-winners season of Drag Race calls for a larger prize. And the queens are getting just that, with the winner taking home a whopping $200,000 cash prize. That’s twice the amount that both Drag Race and All Stars winners receive.
How does RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 7 work?
Like other Drag Race seasons, each episode of All Stars season 7 will have the queens competing against each other in a particular challenge (talent show, design, comedy, etc.). But unlike the version we’re used to, elimination works a bit different in All Stars seasons. In the most recent format, based on performances in the challenge, the judges determine a winner, as well as a bottom group. The winner then lip syncs against a “Lip Sync Assassin,” a queen from a previous season. If the all star beats the assassin, she has the sole vote of which queen out of the bottom group is eliminated. If the assassin beats the all star, then a popular vote among the rest of the queens determines who out of the bottom group is eliminated. This continues until the queens get down to a final group, and the judges determine a winner. It’s unknown at this point whether that elimination format will continue for season 7, or if the structure will change once more.
