The actor, 45, brought his fans along for the ride as he underwent the medical procedure in order to raise awareness for colon cancer and encourage his fans to get their own routine checks. In partnership with Lead From Behind, a colon cancer awareness organization, the Deadpool star shared the video of his experience to YouTube on Tuesday, where he stressed that this one “simple step” could “literally save your life.” In the video, Reynolds received his first-ever colonoscopy, which his doctor called “potentially live-saving” for him after they found an “extremely subtle polyp” on one side of his colon, which they were fortunately able to remove. “I’m not kidding, I’m not being overly dramatic,” his doctor told him in the clip, adding, “This is exactly why you do this. You had no symptoms.” “You are interrupting the natural history of a disease of something of a process that could have ended up developing into cancer and causing all sorts of problems,” the doctor added. Reynolds’ pal and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney also underwent the procedure, where the doctors found three polyps and were able to safely remove all of them. During the clip, the actors revealed that the Green Lantern alum’s decision to film the procedure was actually a result of a bet he lost, where he bet that McElhenney couldn’t learn to speak Welsh. “He was so sure he said he’d publicly broadcast his colonoscopy if I could do it,” McElhenney said in Welsh via subtitles during the video. But Reynolds was still happy to have the procedure filmed if it meant spreading awareness and helping others potentially prevent cancer. “I would never normally have any medical procedure put on camera and then shared,” Reynolds stated. “But it’s not everyday that you can raise awareness about something that will most definitely save lives. That’s enough motivation for me to let you in on a camera being shoved up my a—.” The pair ended their video by sharing a message on the screen that read: “Colon cancer is preventable. If you’re 45 years or older, ask your doctor about getting a colonoscopy. And help Rob and Ryan kick cancer’s a—.” More News:
