In reality, Chris Noth was fired from The Equalizer after multiple accusations of sexual assault against the actor surfaced from several women. Noth has since denied the allegations. Noth’s character last appeared in the episode, “Separated,” which aired back on Jan. 2. The show finally addresses his absence in this week’s episode, “Pulse.” In it, Robyn McCall receives a desperate plea for help from her former CIA trainee, now a full-fledged agent, that leads her into a confrontation with Mason Quinn (Chris Vance), a dangerous enemy from McCall’s past in intelligence. In need of confidential information about the agent’s latest assignment, McCall forms a tentative alliance with Carter Griffin (Brett Dalton), a by-the-book CIA handler. Robyn learns that Mason Quinn, the sociopath who tried to kill her, is somehow involved in her current case. As the case begins to unravel, Robyn reveals Bishop gave her intel on Quinn but warned her not to look at it for fear she would once again become obsessed with finding Quinn and bringing him to justice. After Harry (Adam Goldberg) suggests that they contact Bishop, Robyn tells them that he’s working on a case and has gone radio silent. We learn that Bishop’s case is tied to Robyn’s current case. During her investigation, Robyn discovers Quinn is set to take possession of a deadly weapon which he will sell to the highest bidder. Bishop, en route to stop the bad guys aboard a private plane, is shot down by Quinn with said weapon. Bishop and all aboard the plane are presumed dead. Now the stakes are higher for Robyn as Quinn not only tried to kill her in the past, but now he has killed her friend and mentor. At the end of the episode, she receives a phone call. The caller ID says it’s Bishop on the other end but when she answers, she hears the voice of Quinn, “This is the second time you’ve gotten in my way. Don’t come for me again because then I’ll have to come after you.” With her confidante presumed dead, Robyn seeks out Marcus Dante (Tory Kittles). The Equalizer airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
